KATHMANDU, Apr 17: Around 300,000 tourists have entered Nepal in the first 3 months of 2018. A total of 216,866 tourists have entered Nepal through airways while 69,866 tourists have entered Nepal through roadways in the first 3 months of 2018, according to the Immigration Department. This is about 33,000 more than last year’s numbers from the same time.
Of the 1 million tourists that visited Nepal in 2018, 253,984 tourists had entered Nepal in the first three months. The improvement noted in the past three months is noted as a positive sign by tourism entrepreneurs.
Secretary of the Tourism Ministry, Krishna Prasad Devkota, said that 2017 was a highly fruitful year for Nepal’s tourism sector and that the government and the private sector should work together to develop tourism in the future. He said that since the neighboring countries of China and India produce around 250 million international tourists each year, being able to attract tourists from the countries will allow Nepal’s tourist intake to increase drastically.
