17 five-star hotels, including 1 five-star deluxe, in Nepal

KATHMANDU, Feb 02:There are currently 17 five-star and premium hotels operating in Nepal. The Department of Tourism issued licenses to one luxury five-star hotel and 16 other five-star hotels across the country.

The Department of Tourism assigns star ratings to hotels based on infrastructure, services, and facilities. The hotel should submit an application to the department. Some of the country's hotels are also preparing to submit an application to the department for this grade. Some hotels are under construction. The department predicts that the number of five-star hotels will rise soon.

The government recently issued details on the five-star deluxe and five-star hotels, which have renewed their licenses.

According to the department, five-star deluxe and similar-level hotels have a total of 2,346 rooms. The department's rating indicates that there is only one five-star deluxe hotel. Hotel Mechi Crown, which operates in Dhulabari, Jhapa, has achieved that rating.

The Soaltee Kathmandu Hotel, Hotel Annapurna, Hyatt Regency Hotel (Taragaon Regency Hotel Limited), The Malla Hotel, Shangri-La Hotel, Hotel Everest, Aloft Kathmandu Thamel Hotel, Hyatt Place, Dusit Princess (Hotel Lhasa International) and Akama Hotel  in Kathmandu are among the five-star category hotels.Similarly, outside of the valley, Tiger Palace Resort in Rupandehi, Soaltee Westend Premier (Soaltee Shivavikram Hotels) in Nepalganj, Central Plaza in Banke, Hotel The Kingsbury in Jhapa, and Hotel Ichchha in Simara in Bara have also renew five-star ratings.

According to the department's most recent data, there are still very few five-star hotels operating outside of the federal capital. The majority of the five-star hotels are in Kathmandu. In addition, Kathmandu has a higher number of recently built hotels. Hyatt Place, Akama Hotel, Aloft Kathmandu Thamel, and Hotel Lhasa International are some of the hotels that have recently earned a five-star rating license from the government.
