Youth Buddhist Association and Embassy of Pakistan organize 'Buddhist Heritage in Pakistan' event
KATHMANDU, Feb 11:The Youth Buddhist Association (YBA) the Embassy of Pakistan in Nepal jointly organized an event in Kathmandu on Saturday to showcase Pakistan's Buddhist heritage.
During the event, Pakistani Ambassador Abrar H Hashmi stated that Buddhist heritage sites in Pakistan played an important role in fostering people-to-people contact between Nepal and Pakistan.
"Pakistan Archaeological Department along with UNESCO are aptly and professionally preserving the very essence of Buddhist Sites," the ambassador stated.
He went on to say that Buddhist religious tourism has enormous potential in Pakistan, given the presence of Buddhist religious sites in Taxila, Chakdara, Mingora, and Peshawar.
Meanwhile, other participants and scholars recognized the importance of Buddhist heritage sites in Pakistan and advocated for the inclusion of visits to these sites in Buddhist religious tourism packages offered by tour operators in Nepal and other countries.
