Nepalgunj-Janakpur direct flight begun

JANAKPURDHAM, Feb 18:Air services have begun from Nepalgunj to Janakpur. Yeti Airlines' ATR 72 aircraft, carrying 72 people, arrived in Janakpur from Nepalgunj Airport on Saturday.

Lumbini Province Government Urban Development Minister Krishna KC, Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City Mayor Prashant Bista, Nepalgunj Udyog Banijya Association President Tank Dhami, and other tourism entrepreneur, civil society leaders, and media representatives took part in the inaugural flight from Nepalgunj to Janakpur.

The team that landed at Janakpur airport, including Mahant Chandranath Yogi, the creator of Bageshwari Temple, was greeted by Manoj Kumar Shah, the Deputy Metropolitan Mayor of Janakpur.

Under his leadership, Mayor Shah arranged for a team of people's representatives, industrialists, and journalists to travel from Nepalganj to Janakpurdham to pray at the Janaki temple.

Mul Mahant Ram Roshan Das, the Janaki Temple's heir, gave the delegation, including Mul Mahant Chandranath Yogi of Bageshwari Temple, a tour of the temple and offered prayers.

Mul Mahant Das stated that a direct flight between Mata Bageshwari and Mata Janaki will help to promote religious tourism in Nepal.

A significant number of Hindu tourists go to the recently built Ram temple in Ayodhya, India.

It is a religious belief that every tourist who visits the Ram temple in Ayodhya must also visit the Janaki temple. As a result, tourism professionals proposed creating a new religious circuit connecting Ayodhya, Nepalgunj, and Janakpur in order to entice religious visitors visiting Ayodhya to visit the Janaki temple in Janakpurdham.

Ayodhya is 460 kilometers from Janakpur. There is no convenient road or air transport from Janakpur to Ayodhya.

Ayodhya is 178 kilometers from Nepalgunj. A direct bus from Nepalganj to Ayodhya is also in service. Tourism specialists intend to bring Indian tourists looking to visit the Ram temple to Nepalgunj and fly them to Janakpurdham in one hour. Sriram Sigdel, a tourism businessman, stated that direct air flights have begun to strengthen the connectivity between Nepalganj and Janakpur, as well as to boost religious tourism.

According to Nepalgunj tourism entrepreneur, the test flight was a success, and there are plans to start a commercial flight on one day each week and grow it as needed.
