Ncell’s Bishakha Lakshmi Khadka Wins ‘Best Woman Sustainability Leader’ Award

KATHMANDU:Bishakha Lakshmi Khadka, Head of Corporate Communications and CSR at Ncell, was yesterday honored with the prestigious Women’s Tabloid Awards 2024 in the category of ‘Best Woman Sustainability Leader – Telecom’ by Women’s Tabloid, a UK-based publication.

This award recognizes her exceptional accomplishments and influence in driving sustainable initiatives within the telecom industry. It also highlights Ncell’s ongoing commitment as a responsible corporate citizen, dedicated to impactful social initiatives across sectors such as Health, Education, Environment, Disaster Response & Preparedness, and more, according to a press release issued by the company. 

“This recognition is a result of our team’s collective efforts. Our impact-driven social contributions have been acknowledged on an international platform. With the establishment of the Ncell Foundation, we remain dedicated to creating positive and lasting change in our communities through meaningful initiatives that support socio-economic development and help the government achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),” the release quoted Khadka as saying.

Ncell is said to have implemented over 100 projects nationwide, directly and indirectly benefiting more than 13 million Nepalis. Some key initiatives include the landscaping and greening of the 10.2 km-long Koteshwor-Kalanki stretch of the Ring Road, a Telemedicine and Health Informatics Programme in collaboration with Dhulikhel Hospital, the establishment of 60 high-tech IT Digital Labs in government schools, and the ‘18 for 18’ social initiatives covering all provinces.

On the occasion of its 19th anniversary, Ncell announced the launch of the ‘19 for 19’ project, through which the Ncell Foundation will implement 19 community-level social projects across all seven provinces. Since its inception, the company has contributed over NPR 2 billion to social projects and has received more than a dozen national and international awards for its contributions to socio-economic development.

The Women’s Tabloid Awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of women across various professions and their impactful contributions worldwide, focusing on women leaders, CxOs, entrepreneurs, and women-led businesses. Women’s Tabloid is a global business magazine that highlights the successes, challenges, and contributions of women in diverse industries.
