KATHMANDU, Apr 15: Sports Journalist Priya Laxmi Karki, who is climbing Mt. Everest this spring, has been handed over the flag of the National Sports Council in a meeting with the organization. The council has offered its well-wishes to Karki for her daring expedition.
In a program on Thursday at the International Sports Complex, Satdobato, the NSC has handed over its flag to Karki along with wishes for success. The flag was handed over by Youth and Sports Minister Jagat Bahadur Sunar.
Parliament Member and President of Nepal Olympic Committee Jivan Ram Shrestha, Vice President of NSC Lama Tendi Sherpa, Member Secretary of NSC Keshav Kumar Bista, and Secretary of the Sports Ministry Mohan Krishna Sapkota were also present at the event. They presented Karki with tokens of love and wished her success.
Priya Kaxmi Karki is a member of the First Women Journalists’ Everest Expedition 2018, a team of five women journalists climbing Everest this Spring to raise awareness for equality. The team, which includes Rosha Basnet (RSS), Kalpana Maharjan (Mega Television), Rojita Buddhacharya (Nepal Television) and Deuralee Chamling (freelancer), is leaving for Lukla on Monday to start their Everest expedition.
