KATHMANDU, Feb 15: The Tourist Police department at Bhrikutimandap is ramping up its checking of unlicensed tour guide operations saying that such activities have been increasing in recent months.
The Tourist Police department has found nearly two dozen illegal tour guides at Swayambhu and Kathmandu Durbar Square in a single day.
The illegal tour guides were held in custody for a short time and let go with a warning for the offence for now. The illegal tour guides have been conducting tours of tourist spots without the necessary license.
The Tourist Police department, Bhrikutimandap, has informed that it will start checking for tour guide licenses strictly and deal appropriately for tour guides operating without license.The crackdown on unlicensed tour guides was urged by the Tourist Guide Association of Nepal (TURGAN).
