KATHMANDU, Aug 10: The construction of the view tower at Shahid Hiralal Park in Nijgadh Municipality, Bara, has reached the final phase. The park and view tower are being constructed targeting both domestic and foreign tourists.
Information Officer at the Nijgadh Municipality, Nabin Khanal, informed that the view tower is a first in the eight districts of Province 2, and offers sights of Bara, Parsa, Rautahat, and parts of the bordering India. “A telescope will be fitted which will over clear sights of upto 15 km, which will allow sights of some bordering monasteries as well,” he said.
The view tower was constructed at a cost of Rs. 5.17 million and is expected to increase the number of tourists to Nijgadh Municipality. The park itself was constructed in memory of the martyr Hiralal Gautam, who was killed in the People’s Movement of 2006.
The municipality has also prioritized the construction of a suspension bridge nearby which will allow tourists to move from one hill to another with ease. The municipality aims to create a trekking route from Hiralal Park to Palyun Monstery in Lal Ratanpur, Radha Krishna Temple, and Shakteshwor Mahadev Temple in Dambarpur.
Nijgadh Municipality itself has various tourist attractions including Ganeshman Park, a lake at the Bagh Bhairav Community Forest, various picnic spots, temples, and other heritages which the municipality aims to preserve and promote to make Niijgadh the top tourist destination of the state, said Municipality Chief Suresh Khanal.
