KATHMANDU, Feb 15: The Village Tourism Promotion Forum Nepal (VITOF) is organizing a visit to Kunchhal Village of Thaha Municipality, Makwanpur, on February 17 and 18. The trip is being held with the aim of promoting tourism in the village.
VITOF had previously declared three villages including Kunchhal as tourism destinations. The visit is being organized under the coordination of the Secretary of the forum, Jasfa Pandey, said VITOF President Kamal Sapkota. Tourism entrepreneurs, experts, representatives from various tourism organizations including Nepal Tourism Board, and tourism journalists will be part of the entourage, said Sapkota. The media coordinator for the visit is Second Vice-President of VITOF, Dipak Dahal.
Kunchhal Village is indigenous to people of the Gopal caste. President Sapkota said that the village is suitable for tourism due to its rich culture and farming activities. “One can enjoy beautiful views of the hills from Kunchhal Village and find rich culture and art for study and appreciation,” said Sapkota. The village maintains a culture of weaving old textiles and cloths.
Sapkota said that VITOF will help to improve the living conditions of locals by slowly declaring other villages as tourism spots as well, and making efforts to promote tourism to those villages.
