1.87 Million Passengers flies in first half of 2017

KATHMANDU, Sep 14: The 27 international airlines operating in Nepal have given their service to 18, 73, 199 passengers in the first six months of 2017. This number is 13% higher than last year in comparison to 2, 12, 418 passengers. This rate of increment has been the highest of the past few years.

The airlines had serviced 16, 60, 781 passengers in the first half of 2016. According to the office of Tribhuvan International Airport, 16,469 flights took off during the stipulated time.

According to TIA office January of 2017 saw 3, 18, 838 passengers serviced by 2,667 flights with number of passengers standing at 2, 66, 143.

There were a total of 2,549 flights in February. A total of 3, 53, 962 passengers were serviced by over 2, 932 flights in March while the number in April stood at 3, 56, 262 passengers with over 2,807 flights.

The month of May saw a total of 3, 15, 323 airline passengers serviced by 2,885 flights. Similarly, the number reached 2, 62, 771 passengers who travelled by 2,629 flights in June.

There were 35, 10, 742 international passengers in 2016 travelling by 27,118 flights. Looking at this year’s trend, the office at TIA estimates that the passengers this year may exceed 4 millions.
