234 International flights gets operated from TIA during lockdown

KATHMANDU, June 29: There have been 234 international flights at the country's only Tribhuvan International Airport during the lockdown period in Nepal. According to the airport, around 25,000 passengers flew chartered and cargo flights from the international airport during the three-month period. More than 11,000 passengers have come to Nepal from these flights and 13,000 passengers have left Nepal.

According to the latest details provided by the airport office, there have been 234 international flights, including cargo and chartered flights, from April 26 to July 30. 11 thousand 282 passengers and 33 children have arrived in Nepal from these flights while 13 thousand 103 passengers and 256 children have departed from Nepal. During this period, 492,000 kg cargoes have arrived in Nepal from different countries. It is stated that 4 million 172 thousand 77 kg of cargo has gone to different countries from Nepal.

According to the Spokesperson of the Nepal Airlines Archana Khadka, there have been 28 charter flights of the airlines and 23 flights to return Nepalese from different countries under the coordination of the government. After the Nepal Airlines, Himalayan Airlines has operated many international flights. Qatar Airways has the highest number of flights among international airlines. Airlines including Jazeera, Turkish, Air Arabia and Korean have also chartered flights to Nepal.
