3rd TAAN International Langtang Marathon taking place on May 19

KATHMANDU, May 3: The Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) is conducting its 3rd TAAN International Langtang Marathon on May 19. The Langtang Marathon, which had been taking place since the last two years to remember the devastating earthquake of 2015, had been postponed from its previous date of April 25 due to unavoidable circumstances.

The event has now been shifted to May 19. Conducted with a slogan "Adventure Sports for Sustainable Tourism", the Langtang Marathon aims to develop Nepal as a major destination for adventure sports in the world. The winners of the 3rd TAAN International Langtang Marathon will receive Rs. 105,000, with the second and third prize including a cash prize of Rs. 78,750 and Rs. 52,500 respectively. The registration fee for Nepali citizens is set at Rs. 2500 while for foreign participants is set at Rs. 7500. According to Media Coordinator of TAAN Gopal Shrestha, the marathon covers a ground of 42 km from Kyanjin to Syabrubesi. Vice President of TAAN Jeevan Thapa Magar said that the marathon also aims to promote Langtang as a safe tourism destination after the 2015 earthquake.
