563 mountaineers successfully climb Mt. Everest this year

KATHMANDU, Aug 19: A total of 563 people have successfully summited Mt. Everest this Spring. The Tourism Department informed that 511 males and 52 females summited Mt. Everest this year.

This has been the largest number of mountaineers climbing Everest after the earthquake of 2015 which caused avalanches blocking climbing routes. [/caption]
Of the 855 climbers, which included mountaineers, guides, as well as high-altitude workers, 292 did not make it to the peak. The male climbers hailed from 37 different countries while the female climbers came from 15 countries, of which 326 foreign tourists and 20 Nepalis had the actual climbing permits, with the others being guides and high-altitude workers.
