699 thousand tourists visit country's protected areas last economic year

KATHMANDU, Aug 08: A total of 699,552 tourists have visited the country's various national parks and conservation areas in the last economic year.

Of the total number, 69,935 tourists were from SAARC countries, 325,856 were from other foreign countries while 303,761 tourists were domestic, informed the National Park and Wildlife Conservation Department. Information Official Narayan Rupakheti said that the conservation areas collectively earned Rs. 646,472,992 rupees in revenues from tourists visits.

The department charges visitors under the headings of tourist entrance and videography fees.
