Fairfield by Marriott hosted a 10 day long South Indian Festival and November 23 was marked as the first day of the food festival. Rather than being just an event to showcase the authentic cuisines from the coastal state of India, it was an event that celebrated the beautiful culture of South India and more importantly it was an event that celebrated the bond between Nepal and India.
His Excellency Mr. Manjeev Singh Puri(the ambassador of India to Kathmandu, Nepal) stated in his lovely speech that the festival keeps the spirit of India and Nepal friendship alive also the national anthem of India was being played right after Nepal in the event. He acknowledged Mr. Sashi Kant Agarwal(Chairman of MS group) and his family as one of the pioneering families in business and congratulated them for their success.
It wasn’t just food that lifted the hearts of the people there, performances of typical South Indian music and dance by the Swami Vivekananda cultural centre sure helped the room teleport to South India.
When it comes to the food, it really tasted as good as it looked. Chef Thirumal Mohan who exclusively crafted the menu is really a master of his craft. The Dosa was not only fun to eat but was fun to watch being made. With the level of passion South Indian people have for their food, it is certain that they consider food as an art.
