KATHMANDU, June 08: The Airlines Operators Association of Nepal (AOAN) has demanded to open domestic flights from June 15. The AOAN has written a letter to Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Umashankar Argariya demanding to open the flight.
The AOAN have demanded that the flights be resumed from June 15 as they have experience in flying with high precautions to reduce the risk of corona infection. The first wave of the Corona pandemic, which lasted for 180 days and the second wave for 40 days, has affected the aviation sector.
The AOAN has informed that if the flight closure period is extended, the employment in the airlines sector will be in crisis and the financial condition of the companies will become more critical.
The AOAN suggested that it would be better for the government to focus on reducing the risk of corona virus infection by launching a massive vaccination campaign and easing travelling and economic activity.
The AOAN has also demanded a 75 percent discount on landing parking and other fees. The government has also recently reduced the price of fuel for international flights and demanded a reduction in the price of fuel for domestic flights with low profits which will reduce operating costs and allow passengers to get tickets at cheaper rates, the AOAN said.
