KATHMANDU, Nov 22: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Prem Bahadur Ale has said that an initiative is being taken to remove Nepal's airline from the black list of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). Talking to reporters in Chitwan today, he said that Nepal was still on the black list of ICAO and an initiative was being taken to promote tourism by removing it.

"When I went to a week-long event in the UK, I have asked them to remove Nepal’s name from the black list of ICAO blacklist as soon as possible. After coming to Nepal, I have taken the matter forward by writing a letter from the Ministry as well,”he said. Nepal's airline has been on the blacklist since 2013.

Minister Ale informed that preparations are being made for additional flights to major cities of India. He said that the tourism sector has not been able to develop as the Corona terror still exists. He further added that the issue of declaring the Visit year is still under discussion as Covid is not over yet. Although 2020 was declared the Visit Nepal Year, it was postponed due to the Covid pandemic. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the ministry was positive for upgrading Bharatpur Airport.
