CHITWAN, June 23 :The Chitwan National Park has begun initiatives to bring a male gharial crocodile from India after the sole survivor in the Park died last month.
The single male adult of the species in the Park was found dead in a big fishing net last month.
As the death made the breeding of gharials impossible, the Park has decided to bring the one from the neighbouring country.
CNP Chief Conservation Officer Ram Chandra Kandel says the reptile will be brought from the Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary of Uttar Pradesh, neighbouring Bardiya of Nepal.
He informs he has already talked about the issue with Aashish Tiwari, a high-level forest official of the Indian state.
