Bal Gopaleshwor to be reconstructed by DoA

KATHMANDU, Feb 1 : Department of archeology (DoA) is set to start the reconstruction of Bal Gopaleshwor temple soon, situated in the middle of the historical Ranipokhari.
Although Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has got the responsibility of reconstructinf Bal Gopaleshwor Temple, after contrary arise in rules of reconstruction as against the original design, DoA has stopped in August.
However, KMC will continue the facelift and reconstruction works of the remaining parts of Ranipokhari. It includes a lush green cover, a musical fountain, walking trails, pavements, benches, resting platforms, gardens and open spaces for sports activities among others.
“Reconstruction will be start soon due to discussion of construction material it takes time” Director General of Department of Archaeology, Bhesh Narayan Dahal said.
In the earthquake of April 25, 2015 beautiful Bal Gopaleshwor temple was damaged.
Rani Pokhari was built in 1670 AD by King Pratap Malla to console his queen who was distraught with grief after their son was trampled to death by an elephant.
