Bandipur Rural Municipality charges tax on adventure sports activities

KATHMANDU, Aug 17: Paragliding businesses in Bandipur will have to pay taxes as well according to new amendments to tax rules. The economic act passed by the village assembly of Bandipur Rural Municipality for the economic year 2075/76 has decided to charge taxes on adventure sports and related businesses.

The municipality has decided to levy taxes on trekking, kayaking, canyoning, bungee jumping, rock climbing, paragliding, and the use of drone cameras for videography among others in the adventure sports business. The municipality Chief Purnasi Thapa informed that paragliding businesses will have to pay Rs. 1000 per day to the village muncipality. The tax for trekking and rock climbing has been set at Rs. 100 daily, while the use of drone cameras will require a tax payment of Rs. 100, and film and movie shooting will be charged Rs. 1000 and Rs. 500 respectively.

Similarly, the Rural Municipality has decided to charge Rs. 1000 for using a picnic spot per day. The municipality has assigned Tindhara area as the picnic spot, and anyone found to be enjoying a picnic without permission in other places will be charged Rs. 500.
