Basantapur Durbar Square collects 87.5 million in tourist entry fees

KATHMANDU, Jan 07: The Hanuman Dhoka Durbar Square Conservation Program has collected Rs. 87,541,150 in tourist entry fees from Basantapur Durbar Square in 2017.

The total numbers of tourists that visited the Basantapur Durbar Square was found to be 180,552 in the 11 months of 2017, among which there were 21,929 tourists from SAARC countries. The total revenue collected from tourists of the SAARC countries was Rs 3,289,350.

The highest number of tourists visit was 25,298 in October/November with the total collected revenue of 23,796,900 and the lowest was in July/August with the total of 9,496 tourists with the total collected revenue of Rs 8,756,500.

Spokesperson of Hanuman Dhoka Durbar Square Conservation Program, Sundar Prajapati, informed that the ticket price for the tourists from non- SAARC countries is Rs 1000 from which Rs 750 is given to the Metropolitan and 250 is given to Hanumandhoka Durbar Museum Development Committee who has been helping in the reconstruction of  Basantapur Durbar Square. Similarly, for the SAARC countries the tourism service charge is Rs 150 among which Rs 50 is given to Hanumandhoka Durbar Museum Development Committee and 100 to the Metropolitan.
