KATHMANDU, Feb 26: BB Airways is making purchase of four additional Boeing 737-800 Series aircraft. The planes have been making flights in Europe for 13 years.

The company plans to purchase these airplanes for cheaper prices and overhaul them. The company is currently in talks with various companies to purchase the airplanes. The estimated cost of the four airplanes is Rs. 2 billion 870 million.

The company had also purchased a grounded 757-200 Series aircraft last from NAC last month at the cost of 146 million rupees. It had originally started flights as an airline company in 2012 by means of a leased 757-200 Series airplane, making flights between Kathmandu and Malaysia. However, the airplane was retaken by the Cambodian company after which BB Airways has effectively been non-functional, and without an aviation license.

The company is currently in process of reviving its old Air Operator Certificate (AOC). The four Boeings to be purchased will be used to make flights to Japan, Riyad, Damam, Malaysia, Bangkok, India, and Hong Kong. The airline had gained permission from CAAN to fly to 7 countries four years ago.
