POKHARA, June 08: A statue of Big Mahadev has been set up at Pumdikot in Pokhara-22. According to Chandra Kant Baral, Chairman of the Big Mahadev Statue Construction Committee, the work of painting the statue was completed after Kaligarh, who came from India, connected the statue with the help of a lift and a crane.
The 51-foot-tall statue of Mahadev sitting in the lion's seat was made in Mathura, India and weighs about 6 tonnes, said Baral, who is also the chairman of the Pumdikot Kot Development Committee. The statue was made by Indian artist Pipul Agrawal. Managing Director of Hill Tank Pvt. Ltd., industrialist and social activist Kamal Jayan has sponsored the eight-metal fiberglass statue.
Stating that there was some delay in the installation of the statue due to Corona, Chairman Baral said that the statue would be inaugurated in September and opened to the public and devotees. He said, "We did not stop work for a day even during the Corona effect last year. We did not stop the physical construction work in the second wave of Corona this year either.”
