Buddha Air rises to top among domestic airlines

KATHMANDU, Mar 3: Buddha Air has risen to the forefront among the domestic airlines flying from Tribhuvan International Airport. In one year, it has flown 29,672 times from Tribhuvan Airport and has served 1,268,000 passengers.

According to information provided by TIA, it has served the greatest number of domestic flight passengers in 2017. In 2016, Buddha Air provided service to 1,011,471 people from TIA. 

After the Buddha Air, Yeti Airlines is seen as the airline conducting the highest number of flights from Tribhuvan Airport. According to TIA spokesperson, Premnath Thakur, Yeti Airlines has flown 20,112 times from the airport. The same airlines had flown 18,190 times last year and provided service to 486,000 passengers.

Nepal Airlines has not increased the market share as per expectation. The market share has not been increased due to lack of pilots hindering flights. Four Chinese ships purchased by Nepal Airlines to expand flights are no longer conducting flights. According to NAC, the ships could not fly due to lack of pilots.

According to TIA, it served 95,120 passengers in 2017 and in 2016, it provided its service to 48,120 passengers.
