Buddha Air to Add ATR 72 Aircraft to its Fleet

KATHMANDU, Dec 23: Buddha Air, one of the leading private airlines of Nepal, is set to take delivery of an ATR 72 airplane which is expected to arrive in Nepal by 27th January. The teams taking delivery of the airplane will be departing for France by 20th January.

A total of 8 teams will depart to France for taking delivery of the aircraft. The team will include 2 flight crews, 1 operational staff, 2 B1/B2 Licensed Engineer, 1 Quality Assurance Staff, 1 Airworthiness Staff, and one official from Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN).

Buddha Air is also planning to purchase another ATR 72 which will be finalized by March/April 2018. The company is purchasing additional airplanes to enhance its operational capacity and boost its service for maximum passengers. After the addition of the two ATR 72 airplanes, one will be used for scheduled flights while one is planned to be kept on standby to cope with delay and maintenance problems.

Buddha Air currently owns 2 Beechcraft 1900D, 3 ATR 42-320, and 4 ATR 72-500 airplanes. It conducts regular flights to Biratnagar, Bhairahawa, Dhangadhi, Janakpur, Nepalgunj, Pokhara, Simara, Bhadrapur, and Bharatpur, besides offering one-hour-long mountain sightseeing flights.
