Buddha Air to fly new ATR aircraft from Saturday

KATHMANDU, Mar 02: Buddha Air is starting operation of a new ATR 72-212 aircraft from Sunday. It had purchased the aircraft from Air Caledonian 2 months ago. With the new addition, Buddha Air now has 5 ATRs in its fleet.
According to the company, the new plane will make flights to Bhadrapur, Biratnagar, Janakpur, Pokhara, Bhairahawa, Nepalgunj and Dhangadhi. In recent time, it has been replacing its Beechcraft with ATRs. Buddha Air's competitor Yeti Airlines has also been prioritizing ATRs over other models.
According to Senior Executive Officer of Buddha Air, Subhash Ghimire, the ATR will begin flights on Saturday. The ATR has the capacity to seat 74 passengers. Ghimire also informed that the company intends to purchase 4 ATR 72-500 series aircraft in the next two years.
