Budget shortage stalls runway expansion project of TIA

KATHMANDU, Nov.17: It’s been a year since the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal has issued the notice calling for letter of intent to reconstruct the runway of Nepal’s sole International airport and six month since the short listing has been completed. But the stage of bidding is yet to start.

The authority has moved forward with the estimated cost of 3 billion rupees to reconstruct the 3 Thousand and 50 meters long runway and the short listing process also has been completed.

The Chinese Companies National Aero- Technology International Engineering, China Herber Engineering, Beijing Municipal Engineering, China JV of Ralway Engineering are in the short list of the authority.

It also is estimated that it will take over a year to complete reconstruction of the runway.
