CAAN approves budget of 45 billion

KATHMANDU, Aug 17: The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal has approved a budget of 45 billion and 170 million rupees for the current economic year. Spokesperson Birendra Adhikari said that CAAN would be using hte budget for infrastructure development projects to project studies as the office is responsible for the construction and operation of airports in the country.
The budget also allocates 9.35 billion rupees for different works to be conducted at the Tribhuvan International Airport. CAAN has allocated a further 4.04 billion rupees out of its own pocket for the construction of remote parking bay, 2 aprons, and other infrastructure maintenance works.
Rs. 8 billion and 890 million has been allocated for the Bhairahawa Airport project. 5.2 billion rupees has been allocated for the acquisition of land while 2.6 billion has been allocated for the actual construction. Rs. 6.8 billion has been allocated for Pokhara Airport as well as 1.5 billion for Nijgadh Airport.
The budget also allocates 1.5 billion rupees for the capacity development of various domestic airports while 250 million has been set aside for land aquisition at Nagidanda, Kavre for the construction of a new domestic airport.
