KATHMANDU, March 02: The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has clarified that the decision to build an airport hotel in the Tribhuvan International Airport area was taken by considering the international standards of air safety. CAAN has stated that air and flight safety is a matter of international responsibility.

According to the authority, the airport hotel is a unique structure being built at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Nepal, but this type of facility is available at all major international airports around the world. CAAN said in a press release that land has also been allotted for the construction of an airport hotel at Gautam Buddha International Airport.

CAAN has informed that the decision has been taken to cooperate with the private sector for the construction of a five-star hotel in the area of the airport. However, CAAN says that no further progress has been made so far for the implementation of the decision.

As per the decision of the council of ministers, approval has been received to provide a lease for the construction of a five-star airport hotel and other structures in the construction ownership, operation, and transfer system in that place, but CAAN has not taken any action in this regard at present.

The CAAN said that the concept has been brought to use the land of the airport for productive activities and to provide maximum service facilities to the passengers like other international airports in the world and to diversify the source of income of the airport.
