CAAN falls sort of budget, stalls construction projects

KATHMANDU, Nov. 17: The construction of various development and improvement projects has been stalled in lack of budget as the Civil Aviation Authority Nepal failed to endorse its budget for the current fiscal year.
Minister of the Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Ministry Jitendra Narayan Dev is busy with his election campaign because of which he has been ignoring the meeting of the board which is authorized to endorse the budget.
Also the post of representative from the private aviation service providers also is vacant after the death of Nima Lama and no procedures has been initiated forward. Likewise, the representative from the Finance Ministry is yet to be fulfilled as representative from the concerned ministry also is vacant after Ram Sharan Chimoriya from the Ministry got retirement.
In sort of the budget the construction projects and the multi-million yearly projects are facing backlash in completion, the spokesperson of the aviation regulatory body informed.
The authority previously have proposed the budget of 43.59 billion rupees and the draft was sent to the ministry some four months ago but the ministry said it will go through the draft and then decide over the instance.
