KATHMANDU,Nov 18: Chandra Prasad Dhakal, Senior Vice-President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of the IME Group, has suggested investing in remittances in a way that gives long-term returns.

Speaking at an event organized by IME on Thursday to announce the lucky winners of the 'IME Double Double' offer, he said that most of the remittances are now going to the daily consumption sector, adding that remittances should be invested in long term returns.

Stating that IME is working in the field of corporate social responsibility rather than business profit, he urged everyone to join in the process as the process of remittance through digital medium has already started in Nepal. "Twenty years ago, 20 percent of the money came to Nepal formally and the rest informally, but now there’s other way around, ‘he said.

He also urged all to make proper use of remittances as good returns come from investment. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Executive Officer of IME, Suman Pokharel, said that IME has always been developed as an institution working for the convenience of the general public. He said that IME has been trying to solve the problems of the general public every year whether it is as an institutional social responsibility or at other times.
