Chinese investments rising in Nepali hotel sector

KATHMANDU, Aug 06: New hotels and restaurants are continually being established in Nepal. With this, Chinese investments in Nepal's hotel sector is also on the rise. In the last economic year, 159 small and big hotels were registered at the Department of Industry to a tune of 23 billion rupees in investment, informed Information Officer Durga Prasad Bhusal. More than half of that amount was from China, he said.
Chinese entrepreneurs are working to bring a number of hotels in operation in the country in the next 6 months, including Hongfu Pastry Pvt. Ltd. at 10 million, Fushun Hotel Pvt. Ltd. at 20 million, and others. According to the Department of Industry, the 159 registered establishments will provide employment to 5,373 people.
