Chinese NGO to provide weaving and sewing training to Nepali women

KATHMANDU, Nov 15: The one-month long training project on “Weaving and Sewing” started in Nepal from Thursday under the Chinese NGO Good Will Foundation.
The project “Enable Nepalese women for life skill development through vocational training” has begun in coordination with a Nepali social organization Safa Sunaulo Nepal. Over 55 women from at least 15 districts will attend the month long training.
The project was inaugurated by Mayor of Kirtipur Municipality Ramesh Maharjan in Kathmandu today. Officials of the Chinese embassy in Nepal were also present during the function.
Addressing the program, Mayor Shrestha said that the training is a good initiative which can play a positive role in uplifting livelihood of women.
Similarly, Under Secretary at Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens Bharat Sharma said that such trainings are important for women to bring transformation in family, community and country.
“Nepal government is always committed to end all sorts of discrimination against women, be it through constitution or policies. Now, it’s time for transformation,” said Sharma.
Official at the Chinese Embassy in Nepal Zhai Junfeng said that such programs are important for Nepal. He said that China will continue to support Nepal in its every aspect and to achieve its goal of ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali.’
Representative of the Good Will Foundation Ma Zhijian said that the project will enable Nepali women to learn new skill and to improve their living condition.
“Let’s work together to create better lives for Nepali people,” he said.
Earlier, Good Will Foundation had provided six-month long computer training to at least 20 Nepali youths.
