Contribution of tourism up in GDP

KATHMANDU, May 28: The contribution of hotel and restaurant in the country's gross domestic products (GDP) is projected to be 1.98 per cent in the fiscal year 2073/074 BS.

According to the economic survey of the current fiscal year released Sunday, the total growth rate of this sector in the current fiscal year is projected to grow by 7.09 per cent while its growth rate was negative by 9.68 per cent in the last fiscal year.
The average growth rate of this sector in the last decade remained 4.23 per cent.
It is said that current fiscal year recorded positive growth in hotel and restaurant sector, thanks to the rise in arrival of tourists, progress in domestic tourism, regular power supply and reduced strikes and shutdown.
Likewise, the number of tourists visiting Nepal has increased gradually. It is said that a total of 753,002 tourists visited Nepal in 2016.
