Department of Archaeology hands over Ranimahal palace to Tansen Municipality

KATHMANDU, July 26: The government has handed over the Ranimahal palace at Palpa over to the local government for management. The Ranimahal palace is a historical site with religious as well as archaeological significance to the local community.
The Department of Archaeology handed over the management of the Ranimahal site to Tansen Municipality. A 10-year handover agreement was made between the two offices at a meeting in Kathmandu, which was signed by the Director General of the Archaeology Department, Bhesh Narayan Dahal, and Chief of Tansen Municipality, Ashok Kumar Shahi. The Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Rabindra Adhikari, was also present during the meeting. The agreement states that in order to manage, operate, and renovate the historical palace, the municipality has to take compulsory permission of the government.
Minister Adhikari has urged Tansen Municipality to make appropriate use of the heritage structure in gaining revenue and to manage the site properly. He also said that the central government will provide the necessary budget for the developing the infrastructure of the palace area.
