KATHMANDU, Jan 16: Department of Archaeology has decided to reconstruct the Balgopaleshwor (Jamaleshwor) Temple, located at the heart of Kathmandu Valley.
The temple carrying historic importance would be made quake-resistant, maintaining its original model.
The Department is going to reconstruct the temple itself after the Kathmandu Metropolitan City began using pebbles and cement in course of reconstruction, which, the Department argued, could not maintain its original status.
According to the Department, the reconstruction of the temple would be initiated within two months.
Chief at the Engineering Section under the Department, Sampat Ghimire, said it would take two years to complete the reconstruction of the temple, while costing around Rs 14 million.
The temple constructed during the reign of King Pratap Malla had suffered huge damages during the Gorkha earthquake of 2015.
