Devghat to be developed into a major religious site

KATHMANDU, July 18: Rabindra Prasad Adhikari, Minister of Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, has decided to develop Devghat region as an important site for religious tourism. Devghat Conservation Committee has organized a program "Bolo Om Festival" to promote Devghat as a religious site and to show its importance. Minister Adhikari has assured the Devghat Conservation Committee to help in the development of Devghat in a new way.

Minister Adhikari informed that the central government is planning to look after only a small number of religious destinations, and said that the decision about whether to hand over Devghat to the local level or to the province level will be decided within a few days. He said that tourism regions that connect two states are to be handed to the state level according to law. However, the Devghat region will be developed under the central government.

President of Devghat Conservation Committee, Devram Ghimire, said that a 30 feet long statue of Lord Shiva is to be constructed in the area. The Bolo Om festival is celebrated from 17th of July every year until the end of the month.
