Dharmashree Competition on May 6

KATHMANDU, March 28: The 16th edition of Dharmashree Physical Fitness Competition will be held in Kathmandu on May 6 and 7. A prize of Rs. 10 lakhs

Dharmashree, which has been running since 2042 BS in the memory of Martyr Dharmabhakta Mathema, is Nepal's most prestigious and tough physical fitness competition. From this edition, the first men's and women's physics open competition has also been included along with Dharmashree. The pre-judging round of the competition will be held on April 7. The final round match will be played on May 7.

Four hundred athletes from all over the country will compete in 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80 and 80 kg weight categories at the Pragya Bhawan in Kamaladi. The winner of the competition will get Rs 10 lakhs. The prize money has doubled from the previous edition, said Chairman Pradhan. Similarly, the fourth place winner will get Rs 150,000, fifth place winner will get Rs 100,000, sixth place winner will get Rs 90,000 and the fourth place winner will get Rs 80,000.

The runner-up in each weight group will be awarded Rs 40,000 and the third will be awarded Rs 25,000. The winner of the women's physics category will be awarded Rs 200,000, the runner-up Rs 100,000 and the third place winner Rs 50,000. The organizers have stated that Rs. 9 million will be spent to complete the competition.
