Directors of CAAN and Immigration Department instructed to prepare work plan for improvement of TIA

KATHMANDU, Apr 20: The Director Generals of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal and Immigration Department have been instructed to prepare a new work plan for the improvement of Tribhuvan International Airport within 3 days.

Director General of CAAN, Sanjiv Gautam, and Deepak Kafle of the Immigration Department have been instructed to prepare a new work plan with collaboration from the Home Ministry, Immigration Department, Nepal Airlines Corporation, CAAN, and Nepal Police for the improvement of Tribhuvan International Airport.

The directors have been assigned this responsibility to identify the various issues at the only international airport of Nepal, in preparation to start operation of the airport for 21 hours daily.

 

Spokesperson for the Home Ministry, Ram Krishna Subedi, said that the directors will present the work plan on Sunday. "The work will move forward as per their suggestions," he said.

A discussion on this matter had taken place on Thursday between Home Minister Raj Bahadur Thapa, Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Rabindra Adhikari, Director General of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal Sanjiv Gautam, Managing Director of Nepal Airlines Sugat Ratna Kansakar, and Director General of Immigration Department Deepak Kafle.

CAAN has allocated Rs. 100 million for the renovation of the TIA runway in preparation for operating the airport for 21 hours daily. The airport is currently operated for 18 hours each day.
