BHAIRAHAWA, May 25: Airlines flying international flights from Gautam Buddha International Airport will get a 100 percent discount on the one-year airport service fee.

The proposal made by the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has been approved by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation. With the approval of CAAN's proposal, airlines flying from Gautam Buddha International Airport will get a 100 percent discount on the airport service fee including landing, parking and communication equipment.

The CAAN has started commercial flights from Gautam Buddha International Airport on the occasion of Buddha Jayanti. At present, Jazeera Airways operates three flights a year from the airport.

Pradeep Adhikari, Director General of CAAN said that it has been decided to waive all the airport service charges for one year to encourage international flights at Gautam Buddha Airport.

CAAN had proposed to waive all the charges as per the Airport Service Charge Regulation 2078 to promote the airport and attract the airlines as per the new Airport Service Charge Regulation 2078.

As soon as the proposal is passed, now the airlines will get all the discounts on the amount they have to pay for the flight as per the airport service fee. This will save the airline company up to Rs 300,000.
