Discussion program for Nepali tourism promotion takes place in Tokyo

KATHMANDU, Aug 07: A one-day discussion program took place in Tokyo, Japan which explored the role of non-resident Nepalis in the promotion of tourism in Nepal. The program was conducted targeting the Visit Nepal 2020 campaign by Babu Ram Paudel. The event was chaired by President of Far-Western Nepal Japan, Ekendra Thapa, while the Chief Guest was Krishna Chandra Aryal from the Nepali Embassy, with Special Guest as the Joint Secretary of the Tourism Ministry, Pushp Katuwal. Similarly, the program had the presence of various representatives from Nepali associations in Japan including Senior Vice-President of NRN Japan, Devi Lal Bhandari.

 The program was divided into two phases, presentation and discussion. Organizer Bishnu Khanal conducted a presentation in the first phase which discussed the opportunities, potential, and challenges of tourism promotion of Nepal. Similarly, organizer Bishesh Regmi also presented during the program which showed the example of the Sri Lankan government in the ways that tourism promotion for Nepal can be conducted. Another presenter was Sanjiv Raj Khanal, who gave the example of Shirakawa Village in Japan to suggest ways that Nepal can promote tourism.

The second phase of the program was moderated by Dr. Bharat Nidhi while the special guests and representatives sought to answer various questions on the topic. The guests informed that the coming tourism festival is being conducted in a very different manner from the previous occasions and also requested the participants in the discussion to keep questions focused on the coming festival rather than those of the past.
