KATHMANDU: Domestic Airfare of Nepal will see an hike of 24% from Monday .i.e. 19th of December, 2016. The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal signaled green to hike the airfare of trunk and tourist root by 24%

It is the first increment in 5 years but there is an tradition of reviewing the airfare in the interval of 2 years. The airfare is increased as per the inflation rate. But the present review of airfare will not affect some himalayan districts which is abandoned from Road transport. Dolpa, Jumla, Humla and Mugu are districts where the review on airfare will not impact.

The committee formed under Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (Caan)'s Deputy Director General Rajan Pokhrel's leadership recommended a 19 - 39 percent hike in ticket prices depending on travel distance.

But the present review will not be covering the fuel surcharge. The government allows carriers to increase the surcharge only if the price of aviation fuel increases by at least Rs 4 per litre.
