Domestic Airlines operators hike fuel surcharge

KATHMANDU, Aug 21: Domestic airlines companies have hiked the airfare on different routes following the recent reduction in price of Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF).

The Airline Operators Association of Nepal (AOAN) on Monday gave the green light to its members to jack up the surcharge in line with increased fuel prices. On Sunday, NOC increased the price of aviation fuel sold to domestic carriers by Rs4.50 per litre to Rs104.50 per litre.

Airlines Operators Association of Nepal (AOAN), an umbrella organization of the private airlines companies, The fuel surcharge that is added on to the cost of a plane ticket has been raised from Rs 40 to Rs 200, depending on the distance.

With the new airfare, a passenger will have to pay Rs.3,210 to travel from Kathmandu to Simara and Rs.13,070 from Kathmandu to Dhangadhi.
