RASUWA, Mar 26: Langtang National Park has seized a drone camera belonging to an American tourist visiting Gosainkunda.
Gosainkunda is a major tourism and pilgrimage spot of Nepal and has also been listed as a Ramsar site.
An American tourist visiting Gosainkunda had his drone camera seized at the security check point in Dhunche of Langtang National Park on Sunday. Trekking Guide Pasang Sherpa, who was with the tourist, said that the incident occurred due to lack of prior knowledge about the prohibition of such objects in the area. He added that if the Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN) works to circulate such vital information within the industry, tourists would not have to face such disheartening experiences.
Chief Conservation Officer of Langtang National Park, Yuvraj Regmi, said that to carry any unusual types of cameras within the region, one needs special permission from the Home Ministry as well as the Department of National Parks. He informed that the seized drone camera will be returned to the tourist upon his return from Gosainkunda.
Regmi also said that the park seeks to provide the maximum service to visitors within the bounds of the law.
