Eager and determined to take leadership: Dipak Dahal

KATHMANDU, July 19: Dipak Dahal is a youth tourism entrepreneur from Dhading, formally trained as a lab technician. However, life took him through a different path after a four-day trek to Poon Hill with a French tourist inspired him to take up a career in Nepal’s tourism sector. The French national gave him a different perspective on the scope of tourism in Nepal, and soon after he followed in the family tradition and entered the tourism sector as an entrepreneur.
Dahal is currently a successful youth entrepreneur in the tourism sector and an active member of the Village Tourism Promotion Forum (VITOF) Nepal, having served a full tenure as the Second Vice-President of its current work committee. In the past, he has also been engaged with the Society of Travel and Tour Operators (SOTTO) Nepal and been a part of its work committee for two tenures. He is looking forward to take the role of President in the next VITOF committee and to direct is with his personal vision.
VITOF will be forming its new work committee soon as the VITOF day and General Meeting comes close on July 31. In the current tenure, the work committee has conducted basic home-stay training in Bhadgaun village, Kailali which consists of 55 houses. Hospitality, safety and security and cleanliness related trainings were conducted with the help of rural tourism experts, qualified cooks, and healthcare workers. Dahal says that he is looking forward to conduct similar programs for every year.
With the VITOF day and General Meeting closing in, general membership registration and other internal preparations are going on at rapid pace, says Dahal.
“I believe that as the current second Vice-President of VITOF Nepal, it is a natural step and within my rights for me to claim candidacy for its next presidency,” said Dahal, “I am eager and determined to take leadership of VITOF.” Having worked for two tenures in the SOTTO Nepal work committee and one in VITOF Nepal, he believes that he has the experience and the competence to take lead of the organization.
