Everest Day celebrated in Kathmandu (Photo Feature)

The 15th International Everest Day was celebrated today with the slogan "Pick of World, Pride of Nepal".

It has been 69 years since the first man stepped on the world's highest peak, Mount Everest.

On this day, May 29, 1953, two mountaineers, Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Sir Edmund Hillary, reached the summit of Mount Everest for the first time and gave the world a historic introduction to human courage and ability. This incident got a lot of attention all over the world and Nepal became famous all over the world as the country of Everest.

Remembering the same historical event, May 29 has been celebrated as International Everest Day with various programs in Nepal and abroad.

A morning procession was organized from Thamel to Pragya Bhawan via Durbar Marg, Kamaladi.
