Everest Day celebrated in Siliguri

SILIGURI: Today is 29th May. On this day in 1953, Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay climbed the first Everest peak in the world and conquered it.

After this, the Government of Nepal had announced this day as the Everest Day to give tribute to Tejjing Norgay, and after the death of Edmund Hillary in the year of 1986. Since then, every year on May 29, the country celebrated day as the Everest Day.

Everest Day was celebrated in Siliguri today in view of this. Everest Day is celebrated every year in front of the statue of Tenzing Norgay in Siliguri near Darjeeling more by SJDA and HNAF(Himalayan Nature and Adventure Foundation).

This morning the program was inaugurated by arranging wreath on the statue of Tenzing Norgay. A blood donation camp was held in the office of HNAF today in the celebration of Everest Day. SILIGURI Times
