Final rites of pilot Gurung performed

KATHMANDU, June 3 : The final rites of Colonel of Nepal Army Kailash Gurung, who died in a plane crash at Kolti of Bajura on 30th May, were performed at Pashupati Aryaghat with military respect on Friday.

On the occasion, Defense Minister Bal Krishna Khand and Chief of Army Staff Rajendra Chhetri paid their last tribute to pilot Gurung.

Similarly, former Chiefs of Nepal Army, retired generals, NA personnel, relatives and well wishers of Gurung also paid their heartfelt tribute during the moment.

Gurung had joined the Nepal Army in April, 1989 as an officer and made outstanding contributions in expansion of the military aviation service and military flights in the capacity of a pilot.

Besides, song writer Gurung was also a social worker and had earned Master's Degree in Public Administration and History.

Born in Chhinamakhu of Bhojpur in 1970, Colonel Gurung leaves behind his better half and two daughters.
