Food Festival being organized at Lumbini on occasion of New Year

BHAIRAHAWA, Dec 16: A food festival is to be held in Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha, on the eve of New Year 2022.
The Lumbini Food Festival is being organized by the Hotel Association Lumbini with the slogan 'Let's go to Lumbini, let's eat in Lumbini, let's rejoice in Lumbini'.
Govinda Gyawali, President of Lumbini Hotel Association, said that the food festival will be held on December 31 on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. This is the eighth edition of the Food Festival, which was canceled last year due to corona virus infection.
It is said that there will be around 100 different stalls in the food festival to be held in Lumbini Bazaar (Mahilawar). According to Gyawali, there will be stalls of Tharu, Newar, Magar and other communities, Also, there will be Indian, Chinese, Thai, Cambodian and Japanese food stalls in the country.
The organizers hope that the Lumbini Road Festival will be taken as a branded package in the country and abroad as a New Year's Eve Lumbini Food Festival on New Year's Eve and it will promote Lumbini and the tourism sector in the region. "This time the food festival will be organized in a modified way than in the past and we have also emphasized on culture," said Chairman Gyawali.
"We are preparing to launch a cultural program that reflects Buddhism." The eighth edition of Lumbini Food Festival will be attended by local and foreign tourists visiting Lumbini not only from local Bhairahawa, Butwal and other rural markets but also from bordering Indian markets.
According to the organizers, the food festival will have stalls of various food items as well as local household items, handicraft metal and stone sculptures, garlands and local garments.
