Foreigner dies of altitude sickness in Khumjung

SALLERI, May 26:  A 46-year-old foreigner named Amy Ong Kumling died after she suffered from altitude sickness at Lobuche in Khumjung area Friday.

The Singaporean woman had arrived Labuche, a small village near the Mount Everest, on Thursday to take part in the upcoming Everest Marathon to be held on May 29 on the occasion of International Mt Everest Day. She died in her hotel, according to the District Police Office, Solukhumbu.

Preparations were underway to send her dead body to Kathmandu for post mortem, police said.
